Sky

Pegasus rescued Sky in April 2016 as part of the Phoenix Herd. At the time Sky was just 5 years old with a yearling and a foal at her side. Her foal, Phoenix, had been attacked and was unable to survive her injuries. Her yearling, Abbey, died a few months after their rescue after having her leg broken when kicked by another horse. Sky is extremely tender by nature, and these tragedies impacted her greatly. It took Sky a very long time to settle in and begin to accept interactions with humans. The Pegasus team has spent a lot of undemanding time with Sky over the years with great results. Much of her fear has melted away.

In 2022, Sky spent a few months with Patrick Sullivan of Gamilah Unbridled, who put early rides on her using his liberty method. She also spent three months in 2023 with Zoe Chappelear in Oklahoma to give her new experiences on a large cattle ranch. Sky has now returned to our ranch, where Pegasus trainer, Anthony LaSpina, is continuing to build her confidence. Sky will only be suitable for an experienced, confident rider with a quiet, gentle hand. This little Appaloosa mare is looking for guidance and leadership, and we expect that she will thrive with the right adopter.
