Summer

Pegasus rescued Summer in April 2016 as part of the Phoenix Herd. At the time Summer was a feral yearling who had become separated from the herd. She had gotten herself on the wrong side of the fence and was in panic mode. Once reunited with her mother (Alex) and her foal brother (Jax), she settled somewhat but still remained quiet fearful. Summer is extremely sensitive, and the tragedies endured by the Phoenix Herd had a lasting impact on her. The Pegasus team allowed her all the time she needed to begin to accept life with humans. Summer is now a people-oriented, curious and loving mare. Her confidence has soared!

In 2022, Summer spent a few months with Patrick Sullivan of Gamilah Unbridled, who put early rides on her using his liberty method. She also spent three months in 2023 with Zoe Chappelear in Oklahoma to give her new experiences on a large cattle ranch. Summer has now returned to our ranch, where Pegasus trainer, Anthony LaSpina, is continuing to build her confidence. Summer will only be suitable for an experienced, confident rider with a quiet, gentle hand. This little Appaloosa mare is looking for guidance and leadership, and we expect that she will thrive with the right adopter.
